Cancer Support

Supporting you or a loved one adjust to a diagnosis of cancer could involve managing feelings of shock, grief, fear and confusion, helping you adjust to the impacts of treatment or think about how you might like to communicate with others about the diagnosis. For some people, a cancer diagnosis may prompt significant changes in the way they see life and what they want from it and counselling can help identify and move towards the things that are most important to you. Even though there have been tremendous advances in treatment, cancer commonly prompts thoughts about dying. In the same way that we prepare for other important things throughout life, counselling can help you consider your values, wishes and achievements, and to process life's inevitable losses. Even in remission, it is not uncommon to be plagued by fear of cancer recurring, which may be alleviated with psychological intervention. Please be in touch if you would like to discuss how I might help meet your needs.
